Handling & dosing

Correct handling of the minipigs is crucial for getting cooperative animals during trial procedures.

We emphasize the importance of socializing the pigs, in order for them to be used to human contact and common handling procedures. However, the pigs are not individually trained for specific procedures like gavaging or the like. To obtain collaborative animals it is therefore of great importance that staff handling the minipigs during a study period is well acquainted and familiar with the correct handling of the pigs during different procedures. In connection to this we offer handling courses at our facility in Dalmose, where the participants are trained in handling the minipigs.
